Valentines Day Verses

My dad who is 80 this year, has asked me to make a valentine card for him to give to my mum.
They have been married for 53 years, and I'm struggling to find a sincere suitable verse. Obviously they are not in the first flushes of love, so it has to be appropriate to their ages.
Can anyone help please?

Yesterday our history
Tomorrow will be our mystery
And today is made very special
Because you are still my Valentine

I'm no poet as you can see, just trying to help.

Rhubarb · 03/02/2006 11:30

The one I'm doing for dh is from The Pogues:

You scumbag
You maggot
You cheap lousy faggot
Happy Valentines my arse
I pray God it's our last!

Maybe not quite appropriate for your dad, but it'll do for me!

Carolinett · 03/02/2006 12:29

Whizzz · 03/02/2006 13:30

Many years have past since the first time we first met,
treasured times and memories we'll never forget

We've raised our family, and watched them grow tall
the good times, the bad times, we've been together through all

My you by my side dear, my life is a pleasure
My soul mate, my best friend the most precious of treasures

TambaTheTemptress · 03/02/2006 13:58

with you by my side (typo)

Rhubarb · 03/02/2006 14:00

Last line - so here's the divorce, happy Valentines!

rummum · 03/02/2006 14:21

Rhubarb, your a poet and you don't know it

Roses are blue
violets are red
its cold outside
lets shag instead...

actually maybe thats not appropriate for an 80 year old...

kkgirl · 03/02/2006 15:11

Thanks for all your efforts.
Wow, I posted this, went off to work and now am spoiled for choice.

Just to set the record straight, my dad is not a grumpy old git (thats my husband), hes nearly 80 has mild Alzheimers, and wanted to walk to local shops to get a card, but he's too frail and in the past when he has done it, he comes back with the wrong sort of card, at Christmas my mum was upset because he had bought a card "to my husband", he can get very confused.

Also they don't even sleep together, they have separate rooms, so no Sh*ing there!!!!!!!!!!
