My DD has to produce (for Monday) a table decoration for her Brownie hostess badge. Please let me have your ideas for a stunning decoration that can be produced from readily available materials by an 8 year-old and her non-artistic motherWink TIA!

hmmmmm...

I think for my Brownie Hostess badge.....I did something with shells and a candle .. hm,mm will have a think.

What does your 8 year old like? What colours? what hobbies?

What about cutting fruit and arranging it, like a simple version of this

Could you plant a plant in a decorated pot?

When we were little my grandma helped us put polyfiller on a small pot nd stick on shells and pebbles...

Brownies - how exciting! Our dd is 4 and we look forward to this stage too

Bingo. I remmeber - I made flowers with tissue paper and green pipe cleaners....

less is more :)

Paint a toilet roll tube and make some flowers out of tissue paper and use pipe cleaners to use as stems.

And crap I've only just remembered that we were meant to do it as part of ours next week.

yes some flowers from card and pipecleaners would be sweet, or a tea light holder (clay) nothing ott

i don't think we had to produce a table decoration when i did mine in 1979 Grin

Thanks for the suggestions. Mumblecrumble, main point re colours is that DD has "outgrown" pink, which would have been the clear winner a couple of years ago. Main hobby appears to be to try to get as many Brownie badges as she possibly canGrin Also loves playing imaginative games.

Southeastastra - yes I definitely got my Brownie hostess badge (probably around 1976!) and I don't think a table decoration was required!

Can I bump up this thread? I have no idea on what table decoration can my DD do (in the limited time available) for her badge. Helpppp!!

How about using Easter as a theme? Maybe paint some eggs and make a grass nest/platter to put them on. With little time at the last minute and no budget, it's amazing what you can fashion out of some brightly coloured carrier bags twisted up and sellotape!

Brownie Leader wades in ...

Small fresh flowers in a jam jar decorate with tissue/celophane. Or potted flowering plant or herbs in a home decorated pot.

Placename cards - name written on plain card, stick onto a contrasting colour and tie with ribbon around the cutlery.

Learn a simple napkin fold.
