Knitting people please help!

I posted this in chat for the traffic, but just incase I miss knitting people altogether thought I should repost here too.

I am trying to knit this bolero Here I am having a nightmare with the chart.

Following the instructions for the first line of the chart, I do 5sts moss/seed, section A, then repeat section B until I have 9sts left, do section C and then another 5 moss. Yes?

That works fine, instructions then say to continue with diagram, I continued as I had done with the 1st line, repeating section B stitches across. I did this until I got to line 7 of the chart and realised that an instruction to sl1,k2tog,psso straddled sections A & B and then B & C. How can I repeat just secton B?

I thought I'd misunderstood and should after the first row be repeating the whole row of the chart but the numbers don't work. I have 71 sts, 61 after the 5st edges. The chart is 13 sts across, it doesn't fit!

My head is done in, I really want to make this thing.

Please help me before I go mad!

I'm trying to figure this out, but this is the worst knitting pattern I've ever come across.... clear as mud.

how many stitches did you cast on?

You were correct the 1st time. Row 7 works because the first part of section B is the same as section C etc. It doesn't matter that the pattern straddles sections.

Why don't you write out the pattern explicitly for each row of your 71 sts. I think you would find that much easier.
