Quick sewing question from beginner

I am making a zippered make up case from the lovely blog of Flossie Teacakes. I have attempted to (machine) sew a piece of fabric, to a piece of sew interfacing - but it keeps puckering at the corners. How can I stop this? I have tried pinning, but am complete beginner so may be pinning it incorrectly. Should I have gone for iron on interfacing? Thanks for any advice!

Hi mummybookworm.

I always use iron-on interfacing as it's easier :) One thing to remember when sewing, is that the material on the bottom will be pulled through by the feet, so will be used up quicker that the fabric on the top. You have to pin the two fabrics together all the way around the outside. I always add a couple of pins in the middle (if the fabric is one that doesn't show the marks) to ensure the fabric doesn't move around. Also you have to hold the two fabrics together with your right hand, making sure not to pull it away from the machine, whilst keeping the materials flat on the machine with the left hand, again taking care not to pull the fabric.

What kind of interfacing are you using? Also what fabric is the bag made out of?
