double cast on help please

Hi im using stich and bitch to learn double cast on, but my tail end of yarn keeps ending up at top of the row of stiches, what am i doing wrong? Pls help as dh is laughing his head off

i used to have this problem.
i think i resolved it by using the double bit at the bottom, and the single bit, attached to the ball of yarn at the top. just left the tail end sort of hanging.
crap at explaining. sorry. but i did resolve it.
