Great article, I'm half way through blocking the squares I've knitted for my baby blanket. It's the first time I've tried blocking any knitting and I'm so pleased I have.

I now have lots (soo many!) of squares and rectangles in different stitches which should be easier to sew together as they are already the size they need to be for the finished blanket rather than hoping they will fit together. Definitely a change in working for me.

Well done Mint! I bet you'll be so pleased with the end result after so much effort!

I asked on your blog as well: Would you like to see a picture of my Tiziana shawl blocking?

trulymyrtle · 10/02/2012 18:21

Dutchoma I've just checked it out on Ravelry - it is very beautiful - you are so clever! I didn't see a photo of it blocking, so yes please!

P.S. Dutchoma, I can't see your question on my blog. Maybe it hasn't turned up yet?

Same question. I'll add the photo where it is blocking to the project.

trulymyrtle · 10/02/2012 21:10

I look forward to seeing it DutchOma!

It's on my project page, I think it is number 10 down. You can also see the blocking wires on another project the Patons shawl. It has made a huge difference to my blocking.
Of course the other way to block is (for Fair Isle) on a jumper board. You can see bits of that as well I think, on my projects, since I usually take a photo when it is on the board.

Blocking wires - I keep seeing those in photos - they look like such a good idea. And a jumper board, you are very well set up DutchOma!

I've only used the wires twice, but the jumper board I have had for nearly 20 years. It has been well used in the past but I haven't done a Fair Isle jumper for a while now.
If you do get any wires, make sure you get long bendy ones as well as straight ones. I have only two, fairly short bendy ones and for the shawl I did I could have done with twice as many. Also I don't think they would be long enough to block a round shawl.

trulymyrtle · 13/02/2012 11:42

Alright, long bendy ones it is! Thanks for the tip Smile
