My eyelet outlet order arrived this morning. Whilst I was out at Ikea buying storage boxes for all my little craft bits...

Order value on the customs slip? $3 !!! Er, I don't think so!

soapbox · 23/01/2006 12:59

I've got mine all in lovely little storage boxes - I can sit and look at them lovingly all day long now!

I think this crafting this is all about compulsive shopping rather than making things really

I can't bear to make anything with any of my stuff. It's such a waste.

Got some lovely paper form the Works yesterday. "ethnic" hand made paper made from waste from the garment business apparently. Some lovely silver flecked pieces... sigh. I was in heaven opening the packets and sorting them into colours/patterns.

i got some paper this morning
oh god.....

My crab eyelets are gorgeous. I only ordered them because DS2 was nipped by a crab on holiday once and I thought they'd be appropriate for the, er, scrapbook/photo album I've been planning for the last 2 years...

popsycalindisguise · 23/01/2006 13:20

OOOOH OOOOH WHERE FROM!?

soapbox · 23/01/2006 13:21

My fav are the helicopter ones, then the army tanks.

DS lines up all the fighter jets, tanks and helicoptors and plays war games with them

We went to firepower at Woolich recently (lots of big artilary guns) so will scrap that with the tanks.

RNAD culdrose - will use helicopters!

Fighter jets - haven't a clue - will need to take DS to an air show I think

SoupDragon · 23/01/2006 15:25

Um... the eyelet outlet that Soapbox posted a link to... it was AMerican, hang on... here

kiwibella · 23/01/2006 17:26

is that the same site... or another one to pour over??

kiwibella · 23/01/2006 17:35

I ordered from this site but the eyelet outlet has some tempting bargains amongst their clearance stuff. Oh, oh

jenk1 · 23/01/2006 18:02

What do i do with eyelets and brads? ive got some but dont know how to use them!

SoupDragon · 23/01/2006 18:07

Haven't a clue TBH but they do look lovely

Actually, brads are like those old fashioned paper fasteners with the split-pin back. Eyelets you need to make a hole and, er, hammer them in some way... not entirely sure!

kiwibella, I had a load from that just brads site earlier...

JayzMummy · 23/01/2006 18:30

You need to get a cutter and a setter....they are not expensive if you buy the traditional sort.
You need a good hard surface, an old cutting mat and a hammer.

Place your cutter where you want the eyelets to sit on your cardstock. Whack it with a hammer and hey presto a snug hole is made for your eyelets to sit in.
Put the eyelet in place and then with the setter you bash the ends over to secure....really easy BUT very noisy!!
Ive got a silent setter which is very easy to use and not at all noisy....there are several different designs on the market but all do exactly the same thing as the £3.99 sets you can buy

Whizzz · 23/01/2006 18:55

OOooo I really must get into brads & eyelets
But I'd better wait for my Sizzix obsession to subside!
