can i start by saying thanks for all the help ive been given in the past when ive been looking for advice in the past.
right........ some time ago i bought some beautiful fabric that my mother made into some curtains for our little babys bedroom. i wish i'd bought more as i would now love to make a duvet and pillow to match the curtains. my problem is im struggling to get some more fabric to match. the fabric is a sort of pastel green with a white spot or as my sister calls it an apple green colour (but i think its pastel greenish). i would attach a picture but i have no idea how to do this. does anyone know where i can get something similar either with the spot or the plain pastel green or has anyone seen a duvet set in that colour.
thanks in advance. x

Have you tried Ebay?

Attaching a picture wouldn't help anyway, as what you post & what we see colour wise often aren't the same - unless you have access to this seasons pantone colour charts - then maybe try matching the colour up to something everyone might know, for example, packaging, well known toy etc - that way people will get a true idea of the colour - its impossible otherwise

it does sound like a fashion colour though, so you might have more luck in the coming season than you would otherwise - the other thing I would suggest is buying white cotton based cloth (the more cotton, the better it takes dye) & dye it yourself, you can mix up dyes to get the colour you want, or you might have a professional dyers in your area,

good luck

If you don't manage to get a matching fabric, and you have any of the original fabric left, my suggestion would be to make duvet set in a matching plain coloured green, and add a contrast stripe of the curtain fabric to it. Would tie everything together.

Can you remember where you bought your original fabric?

i bought the fabric from a sunday market trader who sells beautiful fabrics but when they are gone they are gone. i begged my mother to make sure she had some strips left to attach to plain material but she needed everything we got. boo hoo. im now thinking mint green best describes the colour. so i would say im looking for mint green fabric with a white spot or just mint green and ill add a white stripe myself to tie it all in? what do you guys think?

a lot of sellers will send you a sample.
you usually just pay p&p.

ProlificYoungGentlemenBreeder · 11/02/2012 18:41

Have you tried Laura Ashley? I'm sure I had some green with an ivory spot a while ago

taytotayto · 11/02/2012 20:02

thank you dizzy and melted the colours are spot on (sorry for that) i think ill go for adding just a touch of colour to a plain single duvet as all matching might be a little too much. thank for all the help (as usual your all great) i really appreciate it. x

I did this with a lovely piece of fabric I had. Made it into a duvet by sewing on some plain material to the size I needed
