Anyone got a Hyundai sewing machine?

I've got an 8 Stitch which I've managed to learn to use ok (I'm a beginner), but I have what is probably a stupid question: what thread do I need to buy? I bought some threads on eBay but they're on longer spools than the ones that came with my machine (the Hyundai ones are 2.5cm in height).

I've been searching online but can't find any spools that look like the Hyundai ones. Where should I be looking / what should I be searching for?

You can use pretty much any size spools on any machine. Just take the spool and poke the stick through the the hole in the end (you may need to poke it through the label on some brands.)

If you have a vertical stick that the spools go on, it probably just sits on there. If you have a horizontal stick there is probably a round "cap" that you take off, slide the spool onto the stick, then slide the cap back on to hold it in place. Don't push it along too hard, the spool needs to be able to spin round freely.

You choose different threads according to what fabric / needle you're using.

My sewing machine booklet has a table with suggested thread / fabric / needle combinations or if yours doesn't you could nip to your local sewing shop / haberdashery dept (John Lewis?) and ask for some suggestions.

If you don't have an instruction booklet worth googling around and seeing if a distributor / manufacturer can send you one!

Thanks so much Grumpla. Hadn't thought of that! The spools I bought look too long to go on the little stick on my machine but I have to admit I didn't try them on. Will do so now!

If the stick looks really short, can you try pulling it up to make it longer? I suggest this as my mum casually extended the stick on my old machine without a second thought! I was a bit Blush that it had never occurred to me (and that is why I have read the manual of my new machine Grin )

Thanks I'll try that Grumpla!
