Bloomin customs bill was £3.36....not bad though cosidering it should have been a lot more!!! The seller put $36 worth of crating materials....um more like $100 worth....RM charged me £4 for the pleasure of having to handle my customs charge....still saved loads though and now have lots of lovely brads to play with

A £4 handling charge on top of the customs???

JayzMummy · 20/01/2006 17:05

yep....Royal mail charge £4 for having to take money off you!!!! Paperwork...someone having to stand there and physically take the money from my hand and then put it in the till all costs time and time cost £4 apparently!!!

Madness!

Lucily, my imminent order is well below the customs limit...

I wonder if it works out cheaper to put in several smaller orders rather than one large one? Weigh up the cost of shipping against the potential customs/handling charges.

I think its Ok so long as she puts on the front that the total is less than $25 dollars....my sizzix alphabets arrived on Tuesday and they cost over $100 but the seller put on the label contents valuse at $20...didnt get charged then!!!

You can order up to £18's worth of goods before customs will pounce.

dont they charge because they have to pay customs? I think that is what it is. They have to pay customs, then recover the money off you. I had no end of hassle with fed ex and customs charges.

soapbox · 20/01/2006 17:44

My alphabars had ficticious numbers on too

Do you like the brads? I like mine so much I hate using them!!

Is anyone else like me, all these lovely things and I use them so begrudgingly - especially the ribbons I bought

If the seller put 'gift' on the label there'd be no charge AT ALL

Gosh I buy loads of stuff from the States, cross fingers I haven't paid tax yet. I tell the seller to tick the box on the postage label that says gift and not to put any invoices in the package or make any reference they are a business
Guess I'll get caught one day.

will go back to look at the ribbon, soapbox . I love all the bits I got and haven't got them out of the packets yet. I just like looking at them
