I made a Fab at 50 card last year, felt clothes. Others I have done are hand embroidered names, flowers...etc

Have you tried that 'floating' effect you can get with acetate? I did a 5oth one a few years back (may be on the gallery, not sure but photo bit bland). Took a central design then taped thin strips of acetate, varying lengths to the back so they stood out in a circle alla round. Attached 'happy birthday' confetti to the end of eacm then double foam pad mounted onto a holo card blan so really looked as if confetti floating. Up to you what you use as a central image: I just used number 50, you could use a die cut (cocktail glass? Happy to post one), decoupage flower, embellishment- whatever. I sent the last one to a swap, got good feedback.

Don't know if it will inspire you at all but have a look here you'll need to scroll down to near the bottom. It always makes me as you can see that the glue hadn't dried before I took the photo.
