Making things out of a pashmina...

I must have reached "that age" where people have started giving me scarves for birthday and Christmas presents! I must have had a dozen over the last couple of years!

Anyway, I had a lovely dark petrol blue very wide pashmina with a sort of jaquard paisley border pattern and I thought how lovely it would be as a top...

I found this tutorial online, do you think it would work? Tutorial is for jersey but the fine pashmina fabric has a lovely drape. I thought maybe a really wide dark velvet for the bow, although satin might look just as nice. Quite evening-y I suppose

What do you think, crafty MNers?

Also, any ideas for other things I can make from these lovely scarves?!

Yes I think it would work. I would be tempted to see if you could get bow fabric from pashmina rather than a contrast, I think it would less " made from a scarf " IYSWIM.

That's a very pretty throw, although at first glance it looks like everyone put their scarves down on the chair...

I see what you mean about "made from a scarf", although it doesn't have tassels, which is a good thing! Grin

I love that top OP! Might try one myself!

I am loving that pashmina throw. You can get them for a quid each on my market (they are not real of course). I think I might make one of them.

£1 each, wow! You could do all kinds of patchwork colours with them!

We have a lot of fabric shops and stalls too. You have to have a rummage for non-gauzy fabrics but they are there! They range from 50p to about £7 metre for the really posh ones.

Lots of habadashery too but again you have to rummage. NOT ONE pattern shop though.
