Ideas for decorating a Hobbycraft cardboard box wanted please!

I'm decorating a box for my dad's birthday that he can put the kids' artwork etc into. Don't want to paint it so was wondering about other ways to decorate it - anyone got any ideas?? Thanks :)

print out the children's names in different fonts/sizes/colors and paste them higgeldy piggeldy onto the box?

As it is to hold the children's art work, can you let the children loose on it?
