simple would be good - it's for DD2 to make.

Take a rectangular piece of fabric twice the size in width of the bag you want to make and once the height, plus 5cm. Fold over 5mm at the top and iron it down. Then fold over another 3cm and stitch it down, leaving 3cm gaps at the sides of the bag. Then fold over the fabric and make a 1 cm seam on the side and the bottom. Thread a cord through the seam at the top, going from left to right first and tie a knot in it, then thread another bit of cord from right to left. Now when you pull the cords, the bag should shut.
Does that help?

what style of bag?

I have made the Buttercup bag

and Kitchycoos drawstring bag (similar to above)

but if you do a search in google IMAGES for purse tutorial, you will be spoilt for choice

this shoulder bag tutorial is very easy, especially if you skip the bit about inserting a zippered pocket on the outside, which is unnecessary imo.

this is a nice simple idea with 2 interlocked triangles. The pattern suggests you use old t shirts, but I think it might be easier with something less stretchy.

Yes, a simple style shoe bag.
