Want to make my Mum a shawl for her birthday, but monay's really tight at the moment, the cheapest I can find is £7.50 per ball.
Any suggestions, crafty ones?

Try Kemps. They sell cheap yarn, so you might strike lucky.
Or what about Ravelry.com. You might find a knitter on there who is prepared to sell some to you.

I'm on a roll here. Smile
Google Rowan Fine Lace substitution and see if a cheaper yet similar yarn comes up.

Good luck!

Thanks so much - Kemps don't have any so will try searching for substitutes - need to get some soon as I'm not the quickest at crocheting!

Try www.colourmart.com

They do cashmere laceweight yarns at a real bargain price. (Not just cashmere, though!) They have consistently good reviews on ravelry and an excellent website.

How much do you need and how much is there on the £7.50 ball? I am doing a very fine lace shawl and, including the postage I only paid less than a tenner.
