I've made cards for friends and family for about the last 7 years or so. I started by doing my wedding stationery and then used up the extra bits and pieces and then slowly but surely my
compulsion to buy goodies from craft shops grew. It is now taking over my house!! I don't sell them though - I have a bit of a confidence issue there I think. Some of the ones in the MN gallery are FAB!!

Whizzz · 06/01/2006 16:08

About 6 or 7 months - I'd been thinking about it for ages and then was spurred on by the MN A&C chat !

Started last year, made my own christmas cards because I needed to cover the Arts and Crafts part of the curriculum whilst I was home edding DS2.
Things have just evloved and now Im busy building my own little cottage industry

You can read all about it in next months issue of Card Making and Papercraft, where MN also gets a mention

but she does have acrd in QCME this month, altho' i haven'y seen it (yet)

kiwibella · 06/01/2006 20:20

there is a wee bit in this month's edition - the winners of the cardmaking competition have their pic (no JM!!) and a bit about what their placing means to them.

I did my wedding invites 6 years ago. But apart from DS 1st birthday cards, I am not really sure how it happened, probably early summer last year when my friend introduced me to Bakerross, which spiralled.....

Fubbs · 06/01/2006 21:28

Since July 2002 - I can be that accurate because the first card I made was for DH's 33rd birthday! It had a record theme (as in the musical kind) as I'd tracked down a copy of the 12" Club Saleri Mix of Falco's "Rock me Amadeus" for him.

kiwibella · 06/01/2006 21:33

I made my invites too! I almost forgot about that. I have just been mucking about with cardmaking for the last couple of months.

Hausfrau...I'll email it to you as I have the proof here

PeachyClair · 07/01/2006 09:57

Will look for that JM - another excuse to buy!

DH reminded me that I have been quilling now for 22 years (got a set for my tenth birthday, and went from there). Goodness do I feel old!

Dingle · 07/01/2006 10:08

Goodness, I thinks I started cardmaking almost 3 years ago now! I know that because one of my first cards was for my mum's 60th!! Should have seen the state of it!

Used to be a knitter berore that, but needed something with quicker results after having the children.

Don't sell that many, would like to but TBH I hate "selling myself" and have no confidence in myself or my cards. So I need to get that sorted before I will make my millions!

My cards are my "me" time!! I get myself a glass of wine nd cocoon myself in papers, fibres and brads.

kiwibella · 07/01/2006 14:19

Dingle, your comments remind me of JM when I first started coming to this site!! Now look at her It's funny because we were talking about you this morning, JM, because hubby thought you were running a crafting empire

Dingle · 07/01/2006 14:29

Well, if I manage to fight my way through statementing and Amelia manages a place in a mainstream school----lots of "IFS" there!!!

I would like to do more come September when Amelia is due to start in Reception. If on the other hand she goes to a SN school,,, then she may be at home with me for some time yet as the SN school hasn't any places!

I love making the cards, but doing anything to promote sales, like actually approaching people scares the life out of me.

kiwibella · 07/01/2006 14:32

me too, Dingle... but tbh, I'm quite happy plodding along making bits here and there, as I feel like it. Good luck with all your "ifs"!

JayzMummy · 07/01/2006 14:47

LOL! Kiwi...its only because you lot told me to enter that bloomin comp that I did it!!
Things are evolving and I am slowly getting there with my "goals"...selling more bits and pieces on ebay and at the crops etc I go to...plus the craft fairs all help to keep me in pocket and fund my addiction for crafting[smie]
