Candle making

Hello...I have decide to try different activities with my DS leading up to Christmas...all Christmas inspired...but have taken a shine to the idea of candle making..
I would love to know if any of you crafty ladies have any tips etc?
I'm not thinking free standing candles but candles in a jar...pretty cup etc.

just a thought but using candle sand would negate the need for hot wax (not sure how old your DS is)

My DS is 16months...but I wasn't thinking of making these with him as he is far too young. It just got me thinking of hobbies I could do by myself.
