Is Big Wool interchangeable with Ribbon Twist?

Pass, I am soooo rubbish at wool substitutions. From what I know of them though, I suspect not.
Big Wool is gorgeous to knit with if that helps any
Happy New Year Tinker!

Looks like you could probably get away with it actually- Big Wool is apparently 7.5 sts and 10 rows per 10 cm square and Ribbon Twist is 8 sts X 11 rows. Maybe go up or down one needle size, depending on which you're using?

Happy New Year to both of you

Am I going to be the first to say:

As long as you do a tension square ...

Tinker · 04/01/2006 20:30

Pah! to tensions squares, live on the edge, I say. Happy New Year to you all.

at Tinker and v. good gold star to NQC

(I never do them either unless I think it's really important)

MARINAtivityPlay · 04/01/2006 20:32

Tamum I owe you a mega apol, we got a bit sucked into a Star Wars/bad weather/non-sleeping toddler vortex in Edinburgh and I never got a chance to ring you, I am ever so sorry I hope you had a good Hogmanay - weren't the fireworks astounding at midnight!
Did give Kings Buildings a wave for you all on arrival though, fat lot of good that was...
Happy New Year to you two as well!
NQC said tension square! NQC said tension square!

NotQuiteCockney · 04/01/2006 20:32

Hmm, I always do them, but with hats (and no pattern, of course), you have to.

MARINAtivityPlay · 04/01/2006 20:33

Tinker is clearly the Lara Croft of us knitters. I saw a small glimpse of said film

MARINAtivityPlay · 04/01/2006 20:34

NQC as you know I am a pattern slave unlike your confident, free-range knitting self

NotQuiteCockney · 04/01/2006 20:36

It's easy to go pattern-free, if all you do is hats. Ok, hats in a wide range of yarns, textures and sizes, but still, all hats.

tamum · 04/01/2006 20:36

No problem Marina, I guessed it was something of the sort Maybe next time, eh. The fireworks were pretty fab, weren't they?

NotQuiteCockney · 04/01/2006 20:37

I'm afraid this is what i think of, when I think of free-range knitting. Well, ideally something more random and grosser, those kinda look ok.

Tinker · 05/01/2006 10:36

Hmm, I knitted a hat for myself on NY Day. It doesn't quite fit. Now I know why?
