Can you help me find cellophane pockets for cards?

I have just started a business selling a gift card type thing, and the feedback I'm getting from shops is to put them in cellophane to stop them getting marked.
Can anyone here who sells their own cards help me finding a supplier? I have been searching the web with no success.
Tia.

sure I've seen those in the Lakeland catalogue here somewhere?

Pixiefish · 04/01/2006 14:07

ebay

helsi · 04/01/2006 14:07

Lakeland but I have some for slae if you like with the stickers to seal them. part packs but might get you started. I'm selling a lot of my stuff off at the moment. They are £4.75 for 200 13x17cm bags and £3.75 for 400 fixers with lakeland.

Craft creations sell lots of different sizes and have a discount for bigger orders. I have used them for bags and other things and they are very good.

biglips · 04/01/2006 14:14

The paper mill shop sells them too in all different sizes

Dingle · 04/01/2006 14:18

I have loads of the Craft Creations A6 size poly bags if you are interested in those.

I tend to make mostly A5 cards now.

Let me know and I will see how many I have.

bettythebuilder · 04/01/2006 14:18

Thanks for the quick responses.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I never seem to find what I'm looking for on ebay.
I will try craft creations.
Thanks for the offer, Helsi, but I'm looking for a large quantity of just one size.
Another thing I've thought is that if I put the card and envelope in a cellophane wrapper together, you won't be able to see the back of the card, which for my design really has to be seen.
Could I just put the card in a wrapper and have the envelope separate?

Thanks dingle. What size is A6?

They are PPB04- 118x164mm.

If you need CC's prices, I have them at hand in the catalogue. They start at 4p per bag and as you buy more the price reduces to £10 for 500.

Dingle · 04/01/2006 14:43

What I tend to do is tuck the envelope into the centre of the card. Most poly bags leave you enough width to do that. You do however get the occcasional batch which work up a fraction smaller so you can't do that, but not often.

bettythebuilder · 04/01/2006 14:58

Thanks for the help, Dingle. I'm looking for square bags about 140mm sq.
Unfortunately the card doesn't fold open, so the envelope can't be tucked inside. Do you think if I got cellophane twice as big, I could put the card in one side and the envelope in the other, then fold it in half? Would the cellophane fold neatly?
Sorry to pick your brains so much!

On CC do a search for PPB36. Poly bags are 156x154- I use these for my square cards (144x144)
they are 5p each, again reducing the more you buy.

this still won't solve your problem of the envie covering your work though! Will get me thinking cap on and see if I come up with anything else.

bettythebuilder · 04/01/2006 15:06

Ta muchly.

AArgh...I'm still having problems. I thought I'd get a long cellophane pocket, and put the card then the envelope in and fold the two together, but it isn't a standard size. I'm tempted by a trip to Hobbycraft this afternoon, but their website doesn't give details of stock.
Does anyone know if they have a large range of these pockets, so I might have a chance of getting the right thing? It's a long shot, I know!

Hobbycraft do about 4 or 5 different sizes.

How about photocopying the back of your card with a little message "back of card looks like this" then inserting the slip of paper behind the envelope.

Dingle · 05/01/2006 13:23

TBH, I think you would be very lucky to find a different size in Hobbycraft to that which is offered by CC. In fact I think Hobbycraft sell CCs stock in smaller pack. Things like envelopes, poly bag.....seem to have a piccture in my very small brain of some of the packaging...but might be wrong.

How about some of the other "big" suppliers..PDA and Ideal Envelopes perhaps. Haven't used them but have heard good reports.

Anorak's idea is good!!

bettythebuilder · 05/01/2006 13:37

I've been on the phone to ideal envelopes, they are sorting out a quote for me at the moment for a special order. The problem will be timescale, as they said it will take 7 to 10 days, and I have a shop wanting my cards now! I will def. experiment with anoraks idea, as I can find square pockets the right size very reasonably.

Thankyou both, by the way!

Ideal envelopes are very good with unusual sizes of things.

bettythebuilder · 06/01/2006 18:04

Ideal can't even do a special order in the right size, they are too big, so I've ordered a sample of the small square ones, and I'll have a go at the "message on reverse" piece of paper.
I didn't think it would be this difficult!
