I need a sewing box - what do you recommend?

I quite fancy one of those old-fashioned cantilever ones, with sections that lift open but wondered what other people have/ recommend? I only sew when necessary (buttons, beaver badges etc) so don't have tons of supplies but need somewhere to keep thread, pins etc

I got a lovely one from John Lewis online last year. It was brown, leather look and has circular trays that swing out.

I was desperate for a non- flowery and this fits the bill nicely.

I have a Cath Kidston one (I know Blush but it was a present) which is pretty and holds basics, so probably fine for what you need. It's this one.

I have an old fashioned cantilevered one. Highly recommended Smile

Thank you. I told my sister that I'd like one and she said 'ok grandma, I'll get yip some spectacles and a bottle of sherry to go with it!' Grin

I have an old fashioned cantilever one. My parents got it for me for my 12th birthday, - I'm 52 now, and it has had a lot of use and still going strong!

It's actually worth having a look round second hand shops, - there a kind of house clearance place near us, and I've seen some lovely big old sewing boxes in there.

I have a big toolbox on wheels!! Does a great job but I don't have it out, it's in a cupboard hidden away.

KurriKurri, thats a good idea. There are quite a few vintagey shops round here so might have a browse on my day off. hadn't thought of that. I have NO cupboard space so it needs to be ok on view and needs to fit stuff in. Kath kidston pretty but I'm boring!
