Cafe Knit - unreliable?

I ordered £50 worth of wool from Cafe Knit a week ago Saturday. I had heard of them and thought they were a reputable site. However, so far I have received nothing despite their saying they send their orders first class, and an email I sent them on Friday to chase up the order has gone unanswered.

Has anyone had any bad - or indeed good - experiences with this website? Apart from the £50-ness of the thing, I'd like the wool to arrive as I'm supposed to be knitting a Christmas present for my sister, so it would be good if I could get started on it before Christmas.

I just placed an order with them on Monday. Having read your post, I phoned to see when it would be despatched. Spoke to a nice lady who said 'it looks like it's already been despatched. Let me check and I'll ring you back but if it hasn't gone out, it will go in the next day or so.'. She said they've just moved int a new shop so everything's upside down at the moment. If I were you, I'd ring and chase your order! Good luck.

usually, i think, the sender needs to leave it 2 weeks from posting before they can put in a claim for loss thru royal mail. Assuming they got certificate of postage. Then they should be able to resend your order to you.

I can vouch for the fact that they have just opened their first shop ,on saturday, because it is quite near me.Planning to visit next week if possible. So I would give then the benefit of the doubt, generally I think they are meant to be pretty good.

Thanks all. Just to say the majority of my order turned up yesterday. The despatch note was printed on 6 Nov but the postmark was 21 Nov - not sure why it took so long to despatch (though they did eventually reply to my email to explain about the shop move) but glad to have received it and been able to get cracking on the present.

Glad it turned up for you Lady. I wonder did they parcel orders up but somehow not mail them? Bit slack if that's the case! I've phoned a few times about mine ... First day she said it had already been despatched, then last Friday she said it went out on Thursday. It still hasn't turned up and the lady has been kind enough to resend the order today via tracked mail (I hope). If the original order turns up, then I'll obviously return one.
