Help - My husband bought me an Elna 6600 a few months ago because I said I would quite like to start sewing again (I used to sew about 25 years ago at school!). I haven't touched it - it looks wonderful but complicated. I have lots of scraps of material and would like to start something exciting but not too complicated - I would love to have a go at applique and free embroidery. Does anyone have any lovely examples of things they have done.

Lucky you, Hoofhearted! Here are links to some tutorials that I have done... just scan down the page and click on the link beneath the pic... there is bunting, bags, cushions, Christmas garlands and even an easy tissue holder! As to free embroidery, take a look a Poppy Treffrey and her book which is great fun.

Thanks so much lattelady - lovely tutorials and I especially like beach hut cushion. I am sitting here looking at the machine now (it and I are getting to know each other!) It's all a bit daunting, but I just need to get started.
