How to make a sewing box?

My little niece has asked for a sewing box for Christmas. I have had a look around and they can be very expensive. I have some pretty fabric at home which would be great for covering a box to make my own, but I'm not sure which type of box I could use?

Does anyone have any bright ideas?

Hmmm I would buy something like this and use batting to pad it out a bit. I would line it too.

Use glue to cover it and experiement by folding and cheking before you stick...it can be hard to get a really nice finish when covering a box so practce on a small caarboard one first maybe? You could use non special fabric to practice.

The fill it with bits and bobs!
