After some advice...

I do a lot of knitting, both for fun and for other people. I've been commissioned to knit a hat and gloves for a friend of a friend, and wondering how much to charge him. He is clearly expecting to pay. The cost of the wool is around £15.

Also, another friend is starting a new business and wants a knitter to make some samples for him, which I am willing to do. He wants to know my hourly rate. I have no idea. Again, any ideas?

Have a look around your local area & see who else advertises knitting for people - small ads, gumtree, wool & craft shops or ask at craft fairs etc

  • then be cheeky & ring up & ask how much they would charge you to knit an item for you - maybe ring around a few if you can & use that as your guide for your own pricing

good luck
