Is there an easier way to knit stripes...

than having to weave in all the loose tail ends? I am knitting my first stripey scarf and am looking at all the tail ends thinking it will take me forever to weave them all in. Surely there is a better way!

If you have only a few colours, you can carry them up the side, just twist them around the working yarn as you get to that end of the row, and don't let them get tight or one side will be shorter than the other.

Also you can knit in the ends as you go which can look reasonably neat although the little tails then usually insist on working their way to the front of the scarf, but you can just tuck them to the back again.
