Hi, I really need your help.

OH came home the other day with a Rocking Horse from the charity shop, it's plastic with a removable cover. When I was new it would have been beautiful, but is looking a tad sorry for itself at the moment. Structurally it's in excellent condition.

I would like to use the old cover as a template to make a new one, but I have no idea where to get furry horse fabric for the body and mane. Any ideas?

We are planning on giving it to DS for Xmas and I'm quite new to using a sewing machine (first time) so need plenty of time to make it.

I guess we would also need eyes and bridle/saddle as well.... ok I'm panicing now!

Thanks so much! I've just been on their website and ordered zebra material - fab idea!

Just need to learn to use my sewing machine now. Thanks again :)

The fabric has turned up...it really does look fab. Just a quick question is it normal for furry material to shed a little. It's not a toy he will be left alone with so not overly worried but thought I'd check.

Ok I'm a complete novice...what is 'pick your seams'? probably should have started with something a bit smaller than a rocking horse :)

My mums very good, she was a dress maker think I may need her to help or it may not look like a rocking zebra!!

Ok yes I understand thanks for that.

Think I may make a start today when DS goes down for his nap, off to see the parents this weekend so will get mum involved.
