Where would I look to find a patten to make this dress?

here

I'm guessing it's lycra

I can sew - but I'm a bit basic so I could 'create' or substantially alter a patten

Thanks

Age 14 or size 6

I am out at a concert until later so if I don't reply I am not being rude

Sorry - I meant to say "Thanks"

BTW some people have really kindly linked to dance patterns I can order on-line; but realistically unless I can download them I need something fairly mainstream I can buy at John Lewis or the dress fabric shop locally as I need to start it on Saturday

Mt friend says if I use this in the seam it will stabilise the lyrca a bit - does that make sense?

You're welcome. It's very good isn't it I haven't tried it myself as I've only done leotards with attached skirts rather than dresses with a built in body suit underneath.
I've not come across that mesh stuff before but I've sewn a few Lycra dresses and a tip I picked up was to use a zig zag stitch to allow for stretch,
I'm also thinking of making a duct tape body form to use to get a better fit.

IME, if you email the people selling in China, they very often can send it very quickly. If it doesn't arrive in time, perhaps she could wear her old one?

KatyMac · 22/10/2011 13:35

They have said they can't, apparently they may not even meet their 'published' delivery times

:( shame, if she was a 10 or 12, I have a very similar dress in my wardrobe, not lycra, but has a stretch and is black (also vintage).

KatyMac · 22/10/2011 13:41

Aw thanks BloodyGoreyHairyKnickers that was very kind of you to offer but she wants a bright colour
