Where can I buy really cheap wadding to make notice board?

i want to make a notice board out of an art White canvas board. I was thinking of putting wadding and material and ribbon over it and then see if it works.

1. Do you think it will work?!
2. Where can I buy cheap wadding from?
3. Where to buy cheap cheap but nice ribbon?

Id have thought covering a chipboard would work better? Wood is more likely to hold a pin than canvas.

You can get wadding from hobbycraft, dunelm mill etc. Same for ribbon.

1. Yes it will work. It is called French memo board. Google it and you'll get lots of tutorial ( . It is very easy to make. Cover canvas with wadding and staple to back. Cover again with fabric of your choice (choose dcent quality) and staple to the back. Arrange ribbon in a criss-cross fashion, sewing a button wherever two ribbons meet.
2. Wadding is cheap. I would just get it from ebay.

1. Getting decent quality ribbon is important; ebay is a good source: Do work out how much you are going to need, bearing in mind you need to allow for extra to staple to back. Also do work out how thin or thick you'd like it to be:
