advice about my mini sewing machine please

got a 2nd hand mini sewing machine the other day, you know one of those 'easy' ones. Was going to try it and see how I got on before buying a proper one!

worked for a few mins then the cotton kept coming out of the needle as I sewed. Now everytime I se wit does it.

I am prob going to look so thick! and it will be something simple! it's like its pulling the cotton the wrong way as i sew till it comes out of the needle

does that make sense?!!

any idea's?

don't think so as it did work at first, then the cotton off the 'spool'????? ran out so I had to add more to it and replace!!!!!!!!! so I am thinking I have done something wrong!!!

Does the bobbin need more thread/cotton, or is it just the top spool that ran out?

it was the one underneath the needle?? but it has lots on it now

Yup, that's the bobbin.

Could be that the needle is blunt (would need replacing), or you could be going through fabric that is too thick.

Did you get a manual with it? If not try googling for a manual, might have a section on trouble shooting.

Make sure you've got the needle threaded from the right direction, think it's right to left and that the needle is fitted properly

if it's those jml type ones they are useless. I bought one for dd, they just don't work properly.

I agree with bruffin. Take it back and say it's faulty, and spend the money on a proper machine! :)

not a jml one but similar. I cant afford a proper sewing machine at the mo and have only been making things for about 3 weeks so I don't want to spend on one in case it is something I don't stick with :)

Plus I would be scared of a real big machine hahahahahahaa!!!

I have the equiveilent of the £99 machine and it is more than good enough.
Haven't made anything for a long time but my DS 16 wanted a romantic type shirt for a fancy dress party and have been making that this week. Got a bit scared at the beginning but am nearly finished
