Hello everyone!

I've started volunteering in a charity shop a couple of days a week, to pass time before I have to go back to university in January. Anyway, the shop manager says sometimes I'll have to go in the storeroom when there's nothing to do (everyone does either till or stockroom on a rota) and she mentioned that another lady brought in her knitting for quiet days where there weren't things that needed steaming/pricing etc.

I can't knit (bad eyesight), so what other crafty things could I do that I could keep in my bag? Card making? I've no idea where to start on that one or how to create the designs...

I can sew by hand a bit could I do patchwork stuff? I think, in the end, I'd quite like the stuff I make to be donated to the shop (they accept cards etc).

But is there a world of stuff I've no idea about??

Bad eyesight might stop you knitting but would it stop you doing something 3D like origami? I went to a display today and people had done amazing things! Ireally know nothing about it but I'm sure there would be demos on Youtube and some good books about it

Oooh I like the sound of that, something that would pass the time :)

Why do you have to go to thw stock room when there is nothing to do?

Cards would be good (but I have no idea either how do make them, wish I did).

Bead making? Get those stringy ropes and thread beads onto them? I reckon they would sell well

Cripes, remind me never to volunteer to work in a charity shop! It must be incredibly boring for you Lollipop if you're actually considering craft work - I'd rather take a gun to my head than do craft work of any kind:O (Btw that's what happens to you when you have 3 kids and spend years making hideous costumes for school dressing up days.) I say get the hell out of there and have some fun - or get some discarded fabric (should plenty of old tights and knickers lying around the place) and make a collage. Then at least you can put on your CV that your're an up and coming artist:O

Basically, the shop doesn't know when someone's going to drop donations off or the hospice they're tied to will send of delivery of donated items. So they have a couple of people in each day as a "just in case" :)
