Help - seed bead necklace

I saw a lady making a necklace at a jewellery workshop the other week, but didn't get a chance to ask her about what she was doing. If I describe it, can someone tell me what it's called, as I'd like a go at it myself!

She had a circle of strong card with slots cut into the outside - I think there were 8 of them. Then she had 6 strings of seed beads attached to the top centre of the card, with three in slots, then an empty slot, then three in the slots again, and another empty slot. She was moving the bead strings from the left side of each group of three, along into the empty slot to the right, and it was linking them together to make a kind of circular rope necklace, the strings of beads ended up kind of plaited together I think.

Does anyone know what on earth I'm on about? Confused

Yes, I think I do. It's like a friendship bracelet -DS learnt how to do it, with thread rather than beads. Will have a google.
