Sewing with Jersey ?

Im planing on copying a maxi dress I have in another colour with a heavy Jersey, but what thread would I use ?
Just a bit confused as the extra stretch in the material.

Ballpoint needle too I think, otherwise a sharp needle may stab the jersey and make holes in it?
