www.futuregirl.com/craft_blog/2008/10/japanese-crochet-purse-book.aspx

I cannot find the details. I guess that the petals are made of a long chain but I cannot see how many petals and how to crochet the centre.

I just found this pattern with details how to crochet it. Do you think it is the same one? satyamangala.blogspot.com/2010/10/japanese-flower-purse.html

Many thanks!

Marking place so I can look at links later on prper computer! Not that I know anything about doing flowers...

The first one looks like:

Chain 2, 12tc in 2nd ch from hook, change colour
{ch 9, dc in 2nd from hook and each ch along, join with sl st} 12 times

I'll test it for you if you like, but I've made 5 squares for the blanket for BlondesHaveMoreFun today so my fingers are tired Smile

purplepidjin, thank you so much for your help! I will try it tomorrow. Just watched Eurovision. Now a bit of housework.
How many more squares do you need to crochet? Good luck! I would not be patient to complete a big blanket but who knows.

Most of them have been donated by other MNers, I'm jsut using up spare wool at the moment :) The blankets for EdgarAleNPie and Rindercella are 5'x5', which is 100 squares each.

Purplepidjin, I have not tried the pattern yet but going to try it tonight.
Well done on doing your projects. I have looked into your profile, err.

The best pics of them are in the MumsNet Blankets folder at www.facebook.com/mimapants (also some very cute prem baby stuff and links to my blog if you dig around a bit)

purplepidjin, I have tried both patterns and now I understand what the flower should look like. I have tried crocheting using acrylic but the chain petals look a bit weird. So, I try using thicker yarn and see how it goes. You know it was so boring to crochet the petals, a chain of 20 each.
I will check your blog later today and the facebook. Thanks a lot dear.

I did not find the blog but I have looked through your Facebook group. Well done on starting this business and best of luck. I should try to be more optimistic and do something as well.

Cotton yarn tends to be stiffer, also maybe tighten your tension? I'll do a new blog post and link it tomorrow fingers crossed!

I find repetitive stuff boring too, tend to stick to projects I can get done in a few hours!
