Who's up for it? Let's find a weekend!

I'm Dorset/Hants...

fivegomadinthelambingshed · 18/04/2011 22:24

Yes but can't knit but would love to learn. Dorset here.

fivegomadinthelambingshed · 18/04/2011 22:25

Can sew though and actually would love to finish my tapestry.

purplerabbitofinle · 18/04/2011 22:43

I can't knit either but I can crochet Grin

As long as we can get a bunch of folk into Starbucks spending four hours drinking one coffee and doing some craft

Let's keep this to the top. I'm border, and I know of two crafty types in the New Forest. There's also a couple down in Portsmouth Saints supporter spits

fivegomadinthelambingshed · 18/04/2011 22:46

I am Wareham way but happy to travel (and praying that Saints go up)

purplerabbitofinle · 19/04/2011 15:11

Nice one!

Was chatting to FrazzledBlob today over coffee and crochet for the Blanket projects and she's up for it too. We thought Winchester might be good as it's easy to get to from Surrey as well as Hants and Dorset?

Also, I am likely to have lots of wool leftover from the Blankets for EdgarAleNPie and Rindercella so I thought perhaps I could bring it and we make some things for charity. I normally support www.lisasstars.org.uk so we could kick off with them, then if it's a success do one every couple of months for a different charity... Or for the same one...

OP posts:
frazzledblob · 19/04/2011 22:25

signing up :)

extra brownie points for fivegomad for the saints prayers Grin

I think the charity idea is a fantastic one for the leftover wool and it would be lovely if we can kick start a regular craft meet up that results in some good support for a charity like the one purple has mentioned.

Oh I am in Hampshire too! I am N E Hampshire so I thought Hants/Dorset borders might be too far but if you are going to be in Winchester can I join in? It is only 15 miles from me and would be great!

Do you have a venue? In a dream world where everthing falls into place in a lovely woolly way, you could meet in the C & H Fabric store coffee shop, one floor down from their yarn department. Grin

Mind you, it would mean fighting off the OAPs with your crochet hooks/knitting needles for a space at some tables. Smile

purplerabbitofinle · 20/04/2011 15:48

Ooh, cheers Niecie, that's our venue!!

Right. Midweek or weekend? I work shifts so am available at random times therefore no preference...

OP posts:
fivegomadindorset · 20/04/2011 18:59

Sadly Winchester is too far.

purplerabbitofinle · 20/04/2011 20:03

five, Winchester is just over an hour for you, and about 45 minutes from me...

OP posts:
fivegomadindorset · 20/04/2011 20:25

Closer to an hour and a half, it is an hour to the junction for Southampton Docks from us. Never Mind.

purplerabbitofinle · 20/04/2011 20:28

Is Southampton better??? I don't think it's any less convenient for Hants types (loads easier for meWink)

OP posts:
Niecie · 20/04/2011 21:48

Well don't worry about me then - I know most of you are in the southern part of the county. I might be alright with Southampton but it would depend on the time of day. It would have to be a weekday mid morning thing so I could get back in time to collect the DSs from school. It then gets a bit limiting for everybody else! You have to go where the majority find it easiest. Smile

If there were more up this end of the county perhaps we could have 2 groups and maybe meet up as a big group once in a while but I seem to be the only one so far.

frazzledblob · 21/04/2011 18:59

I'm still willing to travel :)

I am free in the week in the school holidays but term time it would have to be weekends.

niecie I am liking your woolly dream, sounds ideal chilling in a coffee shop after bankrupting ourselves in the yarn department Grin

fivegomadindorset · 21/04/2011 19:03

I can't do holidays or weekends.

Forget about me if I can come I will but don' worry.

purplerabbitofinle · 21/04/2011 21:04

So far we have three people, two of whom live close enough to liftshare.

Anywhere good in Dorchester or Wimborne, Fiver?

OP posts:
fivegomadindorset · 21/04/2011 23:27

Wimborne or somewhere around ther would be great but only if OK with ithers.

purplerabbitofinle · 22/04/2011 07:09

Hobbycraft? With a cuppa in Haskins?

OP posts:
Kryshees · 26/04/2011 11:41

me mee!!! Please and thank you. I'm in the forest, would likely be armed with the two bairns.

Would have room for another in the car if both kids were with me.

Unless we go picnic (athough not sure I can deny myself hobbcraft!)

frazzledblob · 26/04/2011 17:12

picnic or hobbycraft sound good :)

At the moment I would quite happily skip work for this meet up and I only went back to work today Grin Blush

Kryshees · 27/04/2011 13:10

Oh No!! boohoo to work and horrah for naughty hobbycraft/picnic treats!

frazzledblob · 29/04/2011 19:28

Bumping Grin

Apart from Hobbycraft where do you all get your supplies from locally? I always need more yarn and I have decided to give safety eyes a whirl.

kryshees how old are your two? mine are 6 and 2, wondered if we could find a suitable child friendly spot where they can entertain themselves a little? (any excuse to do more crochet Blush )

purplepidjin · 02/05/2011 12:52

I like the child-friendly idea (although I don't have any)

We need some kind of park with a cafe right next to it!

Kryshees · 06/05/2011 18:28

2 and 3.5 @frazzledblob. now I do happen to have a biggish wendy house that goes down well!!

@purplepidjin perhaps flasks? And a cake off?

Wiverly enclosure is always good as it has loos, or the reptile centre maybe (I have never been there!), Leep? that has a good playpark.

Kryshees · 06/05/2011 18:30

in terms of supplies, I use the treasure trove/chest or something like that in Tuckton, with Zebedees up the road. Hobbycraft (soton one I like), Williamsons in Woolston soton, there a fabric place that also fixes sewing machines in bournemouth way
