My turn to prepare craft for about 20 pre-schoolers aged 1 to 4. Would like something effective but suitable for children to be creative. So far I have only thought of black card, glue and glitter .. there must be something more imaginative?????

coloured card/paper covered in black wax crayon that you scrape off for firework effect?

Loo rolls decorated as rockets?

i still enjoy doing with my boys something i did at achool when i was 4 or 5.....

basically you give each child a sheet of black card....and get them to scribble heavily over the card with loads of different brightly coloured wax crayons.....as thickly as possible....so the card is VERY waxy.

then they colour over the whole thing with BLACK wax crayon....

obviously with tiny tots...you may decide to do some of this for them...as they may not have the staying power to keep going!!!!

then once totally covered in clack crayon...you use a plastic tool (something like a playdo knife)...or a plastic teaspoon handle.... and you simply etch off 'firework' patterns into the 'black sky'.....big swirls and wiggly lines....

eally looks effective! And a great use for all the odd broken crayons that sit at the bottom of the pot!

For the scraper one use coloured pencils and thick black paint over the top.

Get kids to draw fireworks in bright crayons on thick paper, then paint over with thin black paint and crayons should shine through.
