Painting clay....which paint?

could I just use the kiddies paint that you get in the squirty bottles to paint some clay. Me and the children made some little clay pots (tealight holders) for Diwali and I would like them to decorate them. Do you need a special type of paint?

I have no idea - but saw your other post and didn't want you to feel you were being ignored!

Everyone on here has killed threads and had unanswered ones too - you are in very good company on that front!

Thanks soapbox!

I was just feeling sorry for myself!

Everyone is busy with half term atm. I think there are only a very few people on here right now!!!

I'm off too - need to get the children ready for a weekend away!

Make sure it is poster paint stuff rather than water based otherwise it will just sink into the clay.

I am going to follow you round the board now Jenum so you can't complain about threadkilling....mwahahahahaha

I don't think I'll be very good at it though, I'm going out in ten minutes!!!

JenumGeranium · 28/10/2005 10:34

oh well never mind - the thought was there!

You could probably seal the clay with watered down PVA before painting if the paint sinks in too much.

there is a gorgeous diwali tea-light candle holder activity in the latest Baker Ross catalogue I got. Think it is the Christmas edition? They decorated theirs with jewels.

JenumGeranium · 28/10/2005 13:14

sounds like a great idea! I will go and raid my art and craft box later, I'm sure I have some stuff they could use to decorate it!

Thanks again everyone!
