We are making a halloween costume for DS, probably a wizard.
He is 3 and it is for a preschool party...so it need to be easy to wear/go to loo/not tear easily etc.
I know how to do the hat, we have plenty of stick-on stars and cardboard.

How to I do the rest of the costume?
or any good websites with wizard pictures?

thanks

ps...not a harry potter wizard, more merlin/traditional

do you have a sewing machine? Years ago I made my dd a cape with two large pieces of fabric sewn together (one side was black the other was yellow with big bright spots). I sewed off across the top to give a strip where we were able to thread through a long piece of ribbon so it was a kind of draw string tie. Hope that helps... I've done my best to remember back!

that sound easy enough, we have an old fashioned singer sewing macine, will poke about in the attic for some material later.
thanks

I made capes for my two this week - just some black velvet my friend gave me with a red lining and a stand-up collar. Very simple sewing (not an expert by any means) but easy enough once you get going.

I googled "witches cloaks" for inspiration and there were lots of wizardy/merlin types there.

good luck.

Dd and I have just made her halloween costume - she is going as a skeleton. I drew bones onto thin card, she cut them out and then I stuck them on to dark clothes with double sided tape. She made a mask too (she is 8 so can manage to help!) We got black gloves and black pumps and put hand and feet bones on there too! I know we could have bought a skeleton costume for just a few quid but we really enjoyed making it - she kept saying, "this is such fun, mummy!" Aw.

aw... you mums are fab!! I lazily picked up a costume at ASDA. Couldn't argue with their prices.

I got a lovely witches costume for dd1 (7yrs) from Clintons £6.99 which I thought was very reasonable.

Agree ASDA is fab for costumes, also Matalan had some going cheap. I just wanted to make it for them as a little project and to practise with the sewing machine (am beginner!).

Miaou - great idea for the skeleton (about to be copied!).
