What are you working on at the moment?

sonearsofar · 21/03/2011 19:12

Nothing. I've enjoyed making crochet bowls, but there are only so many you can use after all. I've spun some attractive alpaca (black plied with white) but when I knit it, it all pulls over to one side, so I obviously have got the tension wrong. Crocheted about 2 1/2 feet of a rectangular shawl (in treble stitch) using some white alpaca that I spun and suddenly realised it wasn't creamy and soft and light, but was something more in the dingy dishrag line.
The vision of what I want my projects to look like so rarely match the reality
Anyway, I'm concentrating on re-upholstering an ercol cottage sofa I bought recently.

Blimey. That's proper crafting. I'm doing more sewing, including, coincidentally, re-covering a sofa (not reupholstering, though!). I have the seat cushion (only one) to do, and the frame, then that is done. Lots of little purses for third birthdays coming up. (groan...).

sonearsofar · 21/03/2011 21:33

Oh, what kind of sofa - I'm doing an Ercol cottage sofa and chair (I've got a thing for Ercol) so not proper upholstery either, but recovering.

It's a bog-standard Multiyork, but I had new foam cushions made (as the old ones were.... old.... and no doubt crawling with dust mites Shock), and have added some big Ikea cushions (which I am covering in the same fabric) and bolsters, as DH loves to lounge about on the sofa.

I have just googled Ercol sofas, and they do look nice to re-cover! Nicer than this fffffiddly Multiyork!
