I am getting stressed I cannot seem to find any yarn which has wool in it in duck egg. I need to be able to get it online.
Can anyone help me please?
Thank you very much, it really would be appreciated!

The Nile Green colour of this yarn is quite duck egg-y.

Thank you :)
Have you bought from their website before? It is all ok? I don't often buy online you see and am hopeless!

rhian that website is shocking!

DuplicitousBitch · 17/03/2011 11:50

what weight of wool ? do you need wool, cotton, man made?

Rhian82 · 17/03/2011 11:54

Have to admit I haven't - a friend has the yarn and loves it, but I think she got it directly from the woman behind it (as she works in the industry). Here's where she talks about it.

pipplin · 17/03/2011 11:55

I'm sure about the weight tbh, its for a baby blanket but my lovely relative who is knitting it wants to have wool in the wool so I guess acrylic and wool?
I have emailed her to ask for more details.
I do like that robin eggs colour. Thank you DuplicitousBitch
The accompanying colour will be a cream colour. It's to be crocheted.
I don't know why I'm getting so stressed over this. Darn pregnnacy hormones.

Hey
do you know what sort of yarn you want?

Debbie Bliss does a lovely baby cashmerino which is 4 ply cgi.ebay.co.uk/Debbie-Bliss-Baby-Cashmerino-50g-202-Duck-Egg-Blue-/250659471113?pt=UK_Crafts_Knitting_Crochet_EH&hash=item3a5c77ff09here

Or a DK weight here

Obviously these are both using merino wool rather than sheeps wool but you haven't specified so I hope it' ok... Neither will felt as Merino doesn't felt and can be machine washed at 30 degrees....

Can you give any more info on what it's for and I might be able to help more...

KnitterNotTwitter · 17/03/2011 12:00

x-posts

If it's for a baby blanket then I would actually recommend not sheeps wool because of allergies, itchyness and the fact that it's a bugger to wash when your buba vomits all over it!

I'd go for either of the Debbie Bliss I've linked to above... Very reliable yarns and beautifully soft. i'm knitting my bump this in the cashmerino DK...

Also do you know if your friend has already got the cream yarn? Would be sensible to match that brand/type if you can...

DuplicitousBitch · 17/03/2011 12:00

that debbie bliss one would be perfect! and its an ok price

Niecie · 17/03/2011 12:01

Is this the kind of colour you are after?

Not used the website of this shop as it is my LYS but they are really good there and all the prices are slightly discounted.

Failing that how about Debbie Bliss Cashmerino here. Is one of those shades what you are looking for?

I suppose it depends on what you mean by duck egg and what weight yarn you are after.

Rhian82 · 17/03/2011 12:01

Um, merino is sheep's wool, it's just a breed of sheep. And it will felt, unless you specifically buy superwash merino (which I think the Debbie Bliss is), which has been treated to stop it felting.

DuplicitousBitch · 17/03/2011 12:01

i love that apple tree blanket

Niecie · 17/03/2011 12:02

Oh sorry, cross posted with loads of people whilst looking for the right colour. Seems we all like Cashmerino!! Smile

KnitterNotTwitter · 17/03/2011 12:08

Rhian Thanks. Just know that I knitted something that was supposed to be felted out of that wool and it didn't felt - cue much wailing and gnashing.

Duplicitous :) just hope I do it justice :-)

Rhian82 · 17/03/2011 12:10

Yeah, you probably had a superwash one, they're not always labelled. Agh for not felting, what were you making?

Superwash merino is probably my favourite yarn - really soft and can just throw it in the machine, gorgeous :-)

pipplin · 17/03/2011 12:21

This is the other wool cream countrystyle
She made a blanket for DS1 and as we are having another I really wanted another.
She does seem keen on something with a bit of wool in it.
I'm not sure if I'm helping or making it more confusing!
Duck egg I mean more green than blue if that makes sense? I really liked this but apparently its just acrylic: scroll down to spearmint

Thank you for helping everyone, really do appreciate it :)

Rhian it was this scarf.. Debbie Bliss Rialto 4ply so tiny needles and such a boring knit...

KnitterNotTwitter · 17/03/2011 12:24

pipplin I quite liket the Soft Teal and the Apples in that yarn if you're looking for something greener...

pipplin · 17/03/2011 12:30

mmm I think that may just be a bit too green Knitter.

OP posts:
Rhian82 · 17/03/2011 12:34

Oh no, all that work! Boo to the yarn shop, they should have known the yarn was machine washable and unsuitable for felting :-(

KnitterNotTwitter · 17/03/2011 13:38

Rhian twas John Lewis apparently...

pipplin I'd go for the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK then - should be a reasonable pairing but you'll have to remember that you can only hand wash it - spongeing off marks will be preferable.

thell · 17/03/2011 14:09

What about this Sirdar yarn?

KnitterNotTwitter · 17/03/2011 16:02

good option thell :)

pipplin · 17/03/2011 17:22

Fantastci thell we are sorted all. I have emailed the link over my relative. I will come back and post a pic when she has made it. She works quick so I doubt it will be long.
