patch for torn trousers?

Hi,

My little boy has a big hole in his jeans knee section. They are only a couple of months old and very comfy, so I wonder if they can be rescued with a patch or similar. Any ideas for a nice patch (or whatever solution) so he can wear the jeans again?

I usually put a denim patch inside the leg and sew it from the front side in a paleish-grey thread that blends in with the denim. I follow the weave and blend in the raw edges. This keeps most of the original denim on show rather than a patch on top.

Or there are lots of iron on funky patches, both in local sewing shops and the internet!

i took inspiration from my brothers billabong boardies. got a scrap of fabric with a skull on it and ironed on some interfacing then with a very bold thick cotton sewed a big zigzag pattern over it. looked really cool and DS was pleased to have shorts like his uncles.

another good patch for jeans is to use one of the back pockets as they will also be denim so tough...like on here

What you need to do is use the back pocket of the jeans and sew it over the hole.

There is a great tutorial and photos here

I did fix my jeans like this but it took me ages to do.
