The end of the wool

How the bloody hell do you find the end of the wool from within the ball?
I've seen people just slip their finger in and hook it out.

I've got myself in a bit of a tangle now. Confused

I put my finger and thumb in and move them around until I locate the end.

shake the wool a little bit, then try to get what it inside and shake again. sounds stupid but it might help. he-he

I just knit from the outside.

ouryve, I use the end of the wool which comes first.

I just put my finger in and move it around and somehow locate it like that.

Same as ouryve; what's wrong with that?

PaisleyLeaf · 11/03/2011 13:34

Yeah, I usually take it from the outside because of finding it a pain to find the inside end. But I find the wool feeds to me better if it's coming from the inside - less having to unravel or twist the ball.
I'm wondering if it's to do with the quality of the wool now. I've just got some pretty nice wool and got the inside end easier (admittedly I pulled out a whole sort of little inner ball to get it).

I find it depends on the wool - sometimes it comes out really easily, and other times I end up pulling half the innards out, then end up stuffing them back in and working from the outside. Or maybe I'm just variably competent...
