Hi Peeps, how is everybody?Someone on another forum has just told me the editor from simply cards mag who has just published the above handbook put a list of those people who have a card in this new handbook and she saw my name there.

I was just looking for this new handbook in WH Smith the other day as I know this person has a card in there. But I couldn't find it.And now I can't beleive it it's the first I've heard of it.I'll be so excited if it's true.So has anyone got this?I'm dying to know which card it is.

How exciting.... have you tried Amazon?

kiwibelle · 19/10/2005 14:45

terrific news for you Layla! Do you have any more information about this handbook? Maybe you could contact the editor of the mag? You would think (I would hope) that they would contact you for permission to publish your work.

layla · 19/10/2005 14:57

Well, thanks folks, she also said that apparantly everyone who has a card in there will get a complimentary copy of the handbook.I just can't wait that long Lol.

didn't get to go. dh had pushchair and sling in car when he went work.

Jayzmummy · 22/10/2005 15:55

I went into to get a copy today....hobbled all the way up the high street and in to WHSmiths only to be told they sold out earlier this morning!!!!

I bought a couple of mags and noticed your friend in one Peachy

layla · 22/10/2005 20:07

Oh blimey I'm never going to know.I went to Abergavenny today and went in WHSmiths to look for it and they didn't have it either. And I looked everywhere for canny crafts and was told in the art shop that they have moved to an industrial estate

But the good thing is I know what I want to learn next-woodcarving -so I got some books out of the library and am trying to do a course in it.

OP posts:
Jayzmummy · 22/10/2005 20:12

Oh layla....wood carving is excellent. My dad use to spend hours sitting at his lathe turning chunks of wood into wonderful creations. I lurved the smell in his worshop and it brings back all the happy memories I had of him as a child.

Could you contact the publisher and get a copy of the book?

PeachyClairPumpkinPie · 22/10/2005 20:14

So where are you from Layla? We're not far from Abergavenny, under 20 miles anyway (which in MumsNet terms isn't far!)

layla · 22/10/2005 21:10

Oh Jm how lovely.Did you ever have a go with him?

Hi Peachy I'm in Cardiff so not far at all.

pootlepod · 22/10/2005 21:44

errrmmmm ,

The book did just kind of fall into my virtual shopping trolley the other day and is winging its way to me

It says it could be up to 28 days but if you've not found a copy before then layla I'll see if you're in.

Jayzmummy · 22/10/2005 22:26

Sadly layla I never did....I was prpbably too busy making cards
My sister did though and she has a lovely wooden bread basket that she made when she was about 12. Shes 36 now and its still as perfect as the day she made it despite being used daily.

The old man who lives across our lane has a lathe in his barn and I often hear him turning something....makes me smile and brings back happy memories.

PeachyClairPumpkinPie · 23/10/2005 13:49

No Layla not far at all, about 12 miles- we're in Caerleon.

My Sister's FIL does woodturning, it's a break from his shop I think (he sells menswear in a gorgeously old fashioned shop in Taunton that has been in the family since doomsday ). His stuff is lovely, and I think he finds it therapeutic. I wish dh would do something attractive like that, rather than the DJ equipment!!.

kiwibelle · 23/10/2005 17:45

saw 'the book' today! Looks like a fab resource to inspire card makers.

layla · 25/10/2005 17:15

Peachy you could do it too not just DH.He's a DJ is he?

Hi has anyone seen the handbook yet and am I in there??
