...that would appeal to 8 year old boys. Anyone? Thanks in advance!

Pottery with air drying clay, make a vase/pot for mum. Draw a picture of Mum and make the frame for it to go in. Or make mum sweets/ chocs. Such as peppermint creams, truffles, fudge, honey comb and coconut ice, which are all really easy to make. You can buy boxes from Lakelands which you can also decorate.

Thanks longisland - like the frame idea - may do it with a photo - it's for nephews btw - not planning my own present!

Any more anyone?

This year my children and I (I'm a childminder and Mum!) are decorating jars - old jam ones etc. and then inside we are popping in little 'promises' on small folded pieces of paper. Promises such as 'will wash up after dinner today', 'will keep my room tidy this week'. The idea is Mum can dip into the jar during the year and have a present that lasts a long time. Not too expensive either!! Have fun whatever you decide!

I was thinking of decorating an old jam jar with glass paints (from somewhere like baker ross) and putting some flowers in them, or painting a flower pot but mine are much smaller so I think they'll probably just make some cards in the end!

Baker Ross have some very useable Decco pens that will work on glass. They also have foam flower shapes that stick well onto glass and plastic. I think whatever you do is well appreciated!
