Hello decided (due to lack of money and crap weather) that today was a craft day. Done some wicked things with my daughter who has just turned one. Firstly, made some edible paint (I did not encourage the eating but we all know that children will experiment)this was great my daughter played finger painting then used a brush and got basically in a right mess but I have some pretty creations!

Secondly, when she was bored of painting I got a piece of contact on her highchair sticky side up (just stick it back on itself on to the chair) then passed her pieces of ripped up magazine to stick on the contact. She loved the sticky contact and has made a fab creation as I have stuck the contact over the top of it.

Who needs money :)

Anyone else had a good crafty day?

What do u mean by contact?
My DD is very head strong, and shes just turned 2, shes been going to nursery for quite some time and I'm ashamed to say I didnt do much in the form of arts n crafts with her (except playgroups) but recently thought why not, and discovered the pleasure of it. Not as stressful and messy as i thought, and she wasnt as demanding as expected. She loves painting, and she loves gluing. I tried and failed to get her to use scissors today, very nerveracking so on the hunt for safer scissors. We made an attempt at finger puppet this wk, she likes putting it on her finger but it isnt the pretty animal it was intended to be, just a mass of stuck on bits!!

Oooh this takes me back - mine is now 9!! But I remember using masking tape and wall paper lining to make things and stick them together. Masking tape was always much more forgiving than sellotape with not getting hair stuck in it etc!

Oh, that sounds really fun! My little guy is three now and he loved contact paper collages when he was little. I used to do shapes (like hearts for Valentine's day)and then let him cover it with bits of red and pink tissue paper. If you hang them in the window they have that suncatcher look. :) The last thing we made was this
