Hi there. I am looking for a website (not ebay) where I can get a selection of good quality felt in nice colours, not too cheap looking as they're not for kiddies crafts, but not too expensive either. Idel if postage was reasonable too!

Have you tried Hobbycraft to see if they have an on-line section?

AllTheGoodOnesAreTaken · 26/02/2011 22:36

Hi NoWittyName. Unfortunately, I don't much rate Hobbycraft in terms of the quality of their products and value for money. I am hoping for suggestions from crafters who have actually used the felt and can recommend a specific retailer. Cheers.

marking my place on this one...
No, I don't rate Hobbycraft either, v expensive for some items. Only shop there if desparate.

not on line - however, the pound shops always have packets of felt. we are doing a school project of a rainforest animal practicising sewing. the felt has been great for the bold colours of a toucan!

Torbay Textiles are good for small quantities of 100% wool felt, in lovely colours. I've had a bit from them.

Otherwise for a 30% wool mix felt I use Felt Fairy on ebay, although I know you didn't want that answer!

Fluttrbye, how can I find Felt Fairy on ebay?

Felt Fairy I've bought several batches of felt from her, very quick delivery and accurate. I also got from her a sample board so I could accurately order from her 70 colours.

I'm just not sure how to find her when I go on ebay

Blooming Felt is often recommended on here. Good quality stuff.

It isn't cheap though.

I was recommended Paper-and-String on MN and wasn't disappointed, I bought the little swatch card too. Lovely fine smooth felt, 30% wool mix I think.

Local John Lewis sometimes have a bit of woolmix felt on the roll that is better than the Hobbycraft stuff.

Flutterbye · 27/02/2011 21:56

I felt (ha ha) that that Blooming Felt thin stuff was too thin, and their thick stuff was too thick (and a bit rough in texture for the latter too) for what I was using it for anyway.

Paper & String, Lupin Handmade and Felt Fairy all appear to use the same felt, but call the colours different names!

AllTheGoodOnesAreTaken · 27/02/2011 22:23

I still don't know how to find the felt fairy on ebay Sad
