Cross-stitch thread and sewing machine

Does anyone know if cross-stitch thread can be used on a sewing machine? I'm just starting out using the machine, but have tons of c-s thread left over from old projects.

Well I would think that embroidery thread (with 6 strands that can be seperated - is that what you are talking about?) wouldn't be suitable for a sewing machine. I would guess that it probably isn't strong enough.

Only one way to find out though!

Yep it's the six strand one. You're right, I guess it can't hurt to try!!

Are you talking about skeins or reels of it? I am assuming skeins as I haven't seen reels of embroidery thread as such but I am wondering if embroidery thread would be long enough to use in a machine. You would be forever re-threading and sorting out tangles I suspect but it might work if you didn't want to do long straight seams, I suppose.

However, as you say, no harm in trying! Smile
