creating a board book?

Any ideas on how best to create a board book was going to use pictures of my daughter to create an alphabet themed book. She has just turned one so anything made needs to be baby proof. Best plan so far was to use laminated sheets of thick paper but still concerned about the sharp edges any ideas?

Would something like this be suitable? Board Flower Book You can decorate the pages with photographs and pretty paper. Would 5 pages be enough for your project?
