Have got sidekick? don't spend yet.Am watching on line at the mo. My sidekick was 36.00. Like I said be careful.

Jayzmummy · 17/10/2005 09:26

The sizzix is my favourite just because its more versatile....you can get convertor plates for other dies.
Sidekick is Ok if dont want to use other dies and wont be cutting many things....Ive heard they are not as robust and have a tendency to be tempremental!!!

PeachyClairPumpkinPie · 17/10/2005 13:33

DH is thinking about getting me a sissix for Christmas, not sure sissix or sidekick or quickkutz? where is best to get them, and what's the relative costs? I'd use the alphabet cutters a lot I expect- I like putting names on kids cards and scrap pages.

Pixiefish · 17/10/2005 13:36

the alphabets are very expensive- over £100. the alphabars are cheaper. try ebay

champs · 17/10/2005 14:21

gracesmum -- as Jm points out, the sizzix is more versatile, if not rather heavy.

peachyclair -- the sizzlit alphas are more economic than original dies. there's a good seller on ebay who sells them at nearly half price.

undercovermum · 17/10/2005 17:45

Who is it?

Jayzmummy · 17/10/2005 18:36

Sizzlits alphabets are going cheap on ebay....I payed £37 for a full set of "girls are weird" and £39 for "Funky brush strokes". i did buy from America thougha nd had to wait for delivery!
"Beanie buddy" offers a good price for alphabet sets...about £40-50 I think.

Jayzmummy · 17/10/2005 18:45

there you go...sizzlits alphabets going for a lot less than £100!

kiwibelle · 17/10/2005 21:08

wow, I never realised the alphabet sets were so expensive. I kindof presumed they would be more like the price of dies (£10)! I guess they are a great investment though - and being able to swap styles.

undercovermum · 17/10/2005 21:26

Have just bought the funky brush one. OMG DH will go ballistic.

Jayzmummy · 17/10/2005 22:27

UCM....the funky brush is very fiddly and the letters are very fine....hope your not as disappointed as I was when I got it!

undercovermum · 18/10/2005 17:11

Oh don't say that. Was really excited . Which one did you find best.

Dont get me wrong UCM....the Funky Brush are Ok....but are very fiddly and the letters are quite big but fine IYKWIM.
I like the girls are weird because you get more for your money.....4 letters to each die! They can be interchanged to add shadows etc.

this is funky brush

this is girls are weird

kiwibelle · 18/10/2005 18:36

You're right JM, the GAW ones look better than the funky brush.

Too late now however, have bought em. Oh well when I next have 59.99 to spare (gulp) I may treat myself. Watch this post in 2008......

spookylips · 18/10/2005 19:21

hiya - whats is a sizziz pls?

champs · 19/10/2005 01:39

hi spookylips!! this is a sizzix!!

undercovermum · 19/10/2005 13:39

Got the coastal set today. Didn't get the alpha thingys as I am working nights so was in bed. Coastal set.....urm now wondering just a tad why I bought it. People don't like seagulls much. I have also bought some baby ones. They should be useful - people like babies. Tip of the day. Never EVER go on ebay whilst slurping!

champs · 20/10/2005 14:37

pmsl!!
sure they'll be plenty ideas for coastal, summer and bon voyage cards, scrapbook pages .....

kiwibelle · 20/10/2005 19:38

Thanks YG... will keep the alphabars in mind. They are still $100 a set!!! Does anyone know - are the prices comparable in dollars as in pounds? Tx
