What would I be looking to use for these sorts of things?

Would it be a daft idea to buy a kingsize think, 4.5 tog duvet?

would that be usuable?

wadding
This is probable what you want.
Though I will say that I have in the past used one of these to make a buggy liner and cat bed. Wink

wow the ikea one is very cheap!

the wadding looks very thin doesn't it?

thankyou btw, couldn't think of the word, was typing padding.

My local sewing shop (in High Wycombe) sells 4 different weights of wadding (in ounces) in different widths and by the meter, or half meter. Very reasonable.

For a buggy liner (an underneath one) Just a medium wadding should be fine.

And again for a bumper. I wouldn't use anything too thick for safety reasons I guess. And it might droop more when hung up if you used anything too heavy.

Is 4oz wadding the lightest?

I think the lightest is 2oz that I have seen.
