....or a miniture model of a Pit Head by the 14th Feb for St David's Day! I couldn't be any less arty-farty if I tried, have no idea where to start!

Couldn't you make long cardboard loops and stick them like bricklaying on top of each other. Off set them like bricks on top of each other and stand one of them upright at the side for a shaft.

paint them black first. Then make little cardboard/plasticine trollies/piles of coal/people etc.

You could fix the card loops (tunnels/shaft) against a grey backdrop of open book shape box.

That all probably sounds really crap but in my head I can see how I would do it.

I think the school is being a bit mean to make you do it at home! Surely that's an
in-school project!!

Great idea vintage, modified a bit

use loo rolls paint them black, cut them in half length ways

Put most of them horizontal (tunnels)& one vertical (shaft) then stick them onto a piece of card prop the card up on an inverted V of card so it stands up

Make a matchbox into a lift with cotton/string & you are away

Great ideas, thanks ladies. Off to have a rummage through my recycling bag and try and dig out some toilet/kitchen rolls!
